Buhari, Queen Elizabeth, others to attend Ooni’s coronation

Queen of England, Elizabeth Alexander and President Muhammadu Buhari are expected to attend the coronation of the new Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II.

The Chairman, Media Committee of the coronation, Biyi Odunlade, made this disclosure at a press conference in Osun State on Monday.

US boy, 13, shot dead for stealing

A man who shot and killed a 13-year-old boy as he was stealing from an unlocked car was arrested but US prosecutors declined to press charges, police said on Monday.

Air Asia QZ8501: Pilot response to equipment malfunction caused crash

(CNN)The way pilots responded to a technical malfunction resulted in the crash of Air Asia Flight QZ8501, investigators said Tuesday.

The ill-fated plane was en route to Singapore from the Indonesian city of Surabaya on December 28 last year when it crashed into the Java Sea, killing all 162 people on board.

The plane's flight control computer had a cracked solder joint that kept malfunctioning. Aircraft maintenance records found it had malfunctioned 23 times in the year before the crash, and the interval of those became shorter in the three months prior to the crash.

The Bayelsa State Police Command yesterday confirmed the arrest of five members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) over alleged trailing of the convoy of former President Goodluck Jonathan in the state.

But the command said the suspects were not ex militants as reported by a section of the media but persons who mistakenly followed the convoy of the former President thinking it was that of their principal.
