The Republican presidential candidate’s poll ratings soared when he made the comment in December.
It came following the San Bernadino mass shooting by Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik.
The outspoken billionaire businessman, 69, was asked to defend his comments yesterday after he was used in a terror recruitment video by Somali militants al-Shabab.

The group, that has links to al-Qaida, released a 51-minute documentary on Friday about racial injustice in the US.

Trump was shown demanding a “total and complete shutdown” on Muslims entering the US followed by cheers from his supporters.

Trump told the American news channel CBS: “Look, there’s a problem. I bring it up.

"Other people have called me and say, ‘You have guts to bring it up because frankly, it’s true but nobody wants to get involved’. Now people are getting involved.
