RUMOURS: Mourinho told Chelsea NOT to insert buyback clause for Lukaku

The Belgian was sold in 2014 for £28 million but last season's Premier League champions will now have to pay a hefty price as the striker is now valued at £65m by Everton
Jose Mourinho told Chelsea not to insert a buyback clause in their deal to sell Romelu Lukaku to Everton, according to The Daily Telegraph.

Chelsea sold the Belgium international to Everton for £28 million in 2014 but last season’s Premier League champions have now placed the striker high on their shortlist ahead of the summer transfer window.

Everton now want £65m for the 22-year-old but Chelsea could have re-signed the player for a smaller fee if they had included a clause in their original sale.

But the report claims that Mourinho believed Lukaku would not improve enough within two or three years to warrant a a place back at Chelsea.

The Stamford Bridge hierarchy now regret selling Lukaku and believe the Belgian was sold too quickly by Mourinho.
